Martela Oyj, a front runner in interior solutions and a growing and international company, selected Sympa HR as its human resources system. “We wanted an easy-to-use, versatile and flexible HR system, which would improve the operations of the entire personnel and be available regardless of time and place,” says Sirpa Ontronen, HR Director of Martela.
This objective was achieved. Martela deployed the Sympa HR system in summer 2012, and it is now widely used throughout the Group. All Martela people can access their personal details saved in the system using their own usernames and passwords. Certain details can also be updated by the employees themselves. Meanwhile, supervisors can manage all changes in employment life cycles quickly and easily.
“Our HR unit can now manage the entire employment life cycle using a single system, from recruitment to employment termination. This also enables easy reporting of up-to-date HR indicators at any time,” Ontronen notes.
Automated and streamlined data transfer
Martela supervisors use the Sympa HR system not only for recruitment and the establishment and termination of employment relationships, but also for the management of employees’ tools, training, holidays and absences, the implementation of skills surveys and the recording of performance reviews. “All information needed by supervisors can now be saved in a single location, which greatly enhances efficiency. This has also streamlined and accelerated data transfer between the HR unit and supervisors,” says Merja Hyttinen, HRD Specialist.
At the HR unit, there has been a dramatic reduction in manual work, overlapping entries and the use of paper forms. Martela uses the Sympa HR system as a master system for personal data, from which they are transferred to other systems, such as payroll management.
Flexible development of key importance
Martela is continuously growing and developing, which means that the HR system must meet certain criteria.
